"250 piano pieces for Beethoven"

Susanne Kessel invited 250 composers from all over the world to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel played the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 9 of the project's edition.

Martin Gerke über sein piano piece „Séance mit Ludwig“:

„Als Komponist ist man ein Einfallstor für alle möglichen Sphären und Dimensionen, ob man will oder nicht.

Und so geschah es, dass ich eines langweiligen Tages in meinem Studio in Trance fiel und vom jenseitigen Beethoven kontaktiert wurde.

Zunächst natürlich überrascht, plauderte ich schließlich etwas mit ihm:

Über das Komponieren, über den Umgang und die Verarbeitung von Ideen und Themen, das Leben zu seiner Zeit im Vergleich zu heute usw.

Er hatte auch ein paar Fragen: was ich sonst so für Musik mache und höre?

… und zwischendurch fuhr er wie ein Wirbelwind in wilden Pirouetten durch den Raum und besaß die Frechheit, mich als Medium für ein paar Ideen von ihm zu nutzen.

Insgesamt gesehen war seine Verwunderung über mich nicht geringer, als meine über seine unverhoffte Anwesenheit.

Das Stück „Séance mit Ludwig“ schrieb ich anschließend schnell auf und ist gewissermaßen das Protokoll dieser merkwürdigen Begegnung.“
