"250 piano pieces for Beethoven"

Susanne Kessel invited 250 composers from all over the world to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel played the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 9 of the project's edition.

Martin Wistinghausen about his piano piece “außenwärts”:

“Beethoven ist ein Komponist der Extreme: extreme Tempi, extreme Dynamiken, extreme Lagen. In der Klaviermusik reizt er wie kein anderer Komponist seiner Zeit die tiefsten und höchsten Töne des Instruments voll aus, in vielen seiner Sonaten und Bagatellen finden sich Passagen, die scheinbar die Grenzen des Pianoforte-Tonraums zu sprengen scheinen. Drei- und Viertonmotive drängen in meiner kleinen Reminiszenz von der Klaviermitte aus mehr und mehr nach außen. Ein Zitat aus dem ersten Satz der „Waldstein-Sonate“ op. 53 blitzt auf, wird ins geradezu Absurde gesteigert, ehe alles im Pedal-Nebel verschwimmt, nachhallt: Ein musikalischer Erinnerungssplitter aus einer längst vergangenen Zeit…”
