Susanne Kessel invited 250 composers from all over the world to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel played the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

„Zunächst hatte ich eine völlig andere Konzeption für dieses Werk vorgesehen, die sich mit Beethovens dramatischem Verlust des Gehörs und der damit einhergehenden Verzweiflung auseinandersetzt. Das vorliegende Stück verfolgt einen ganz anderen Ansatz: Es ist vielmehr ein kleiner Gruß, eine Suche nach Beethovens musikalischer Essenz, die uns, unsere Gesellschaft und unser Leben immer noch umgibt. Für mich war die Auseinandersetzung mit Beethovens unsterblichem Geist letztlich zwingender. Die Faszination seiner Musik liegt für mich nicht nur in der brachialen Kraft, die er aufbieten kann. Die zarten, fast simplen Texturen, aber doch voller Raffinesse und Perfektion, sind unerreicht.“
