250 composers from all over the world are invited to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel plays the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 5 of the project's edition.

„Beethovens Musik war für mich immer (schon als Kind, zu Anfang meiner Karriere als Musikerin und Komponistin) eine großartige Quelle der Inspiration. Immer wieder und gerne habe ich seine Sonaten für Klavier gespielt. Die Idee, ein Stück für den genialen Komponisten zu schreiben fand ich ganz toll und habe sofort mich mit dieser Thematik beschäftigt. So entstand meine Komposition „In Memoriam Ludwig van Beethoven“. Sie dauert ca. 4 Minuten und ist ein einteiliges Stück. Die Komposition enthält das Schicksals-Motiv aus der 5. Sinfonie und die Intonationen des Seitenthemas aus der pathetischen Sonate c-Moll. Insgesamt sind es 72 Takte geworden.“
