250 composers from all over the world are invited to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel plays the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 8 of the project's edition.

Julius von Lorentz about his piano piece "Unsterbliche Geliebte":

“„Mein Engel, mein Alles, mein Ich.“ So beginnt der Brief Beethovens an seine „Unsterbliche Geliebte“ Bis heute ist nicht einwandfrei geklärt, wer diese Angebetete Beethovens war.

In meinem Stück möchte ich die große Liebe und Sehnsucht, die Beethoven in seinem Brief in Worten ausdrückt, musikalisch umsetzen. Er ist einerseits wahnsinnig verliebt, aber andererseits hadert er mit seinem Schicksal. Aus solcher gefühlsmäßigen Zerrissenheit schöpft der kreative Geist. Ich habe Motive aus Beethovens Kompositionen, die etwa zur selben Zeit wie der Brief entstanden, aufgegriffen und in meinem Stück verarbeitet, wie z.B. die Sinfonie Nr. 7 und die Violinsonate Nr. 10 in G-Dur.

Zu jedem Teil des Stücks gehören ein, oder mehrere Zitate aus Beethovens Brief. Teilweise habe ich den Worten Beethovens eine Melodie unterlegt. Wort und Musik verschmelzen so zu einer Einheit. – Die Sprache jedoch bleibt stumm, die Musik erfüllt den Raum. – Beethoven hat den Brief nie abgeschickt. Seine Worte erreichten die Angebetete nicht. Wohl aber seine unsterbliche Musik.”
