"250 piano pieces for Beethoven"

250 composers from all over the world are invited to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel plays the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 3 of the project's edition.

Julian Lembke about his piano piece "... wir irren allesamtt?":

"Das Stück ist eine Art Meditation über Beethovens erstes bekanntes Werk, 9 Variationen über einen Marsch von Dressler (WoO 63), und seine mutmaßlich letzte Komposition, der Rätselkanon „Wir irren allesamt“ (WoO 198). Eine große Klammer… Fragmente und Strukturen aus beiden Werken dienen sich dabei gegenseitig als Filter: Beispielsweise kann das Thema des einen Stücks durch den Tonvorrat des anderen abgeblendet werden. Durch die Kombination beider Materialien entsteht außerdem eine dritte „Metaebene“, die überraschenderweise weitere Fragmente ausgefällt hat, die sich jedoch auch bei Beethoven finden. Ein nicht zu beeinflussendes Eigenleben, das bei der Konfrontation zweier Organismen entsteht. Die Form ist nicht wirklich biographisch zu verstehen, jedoch versucht das Marsch-Thema sich gegen den unerbittlichen Rätselkanon durchzusetzen, der gleichermaßen alles für möglich erklärt und alles ausschließt, bis am Ende ein friedlicherer Klang Einzug halten kann.“
