250 composers from all over the world are invited to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel plays the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 4 of the project's edition.

Jan Kopp about his piano piece „Ahnen“:

„Auf den ersten Blick unterscheidet sich die Musiksprache des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts sehr von der heutigen. Hört man aber genauer hin, dann ahnt man, wie viel vermeintlich Vergangenes im Gegenwärtigen mitschwingt. In seiner schöpferischen Unersättlichkeit hat Beethoven z.B. dem Klavier Spielfelder erschlossen, die heute noch aktuell sind. Mein Klavierstück Ahnen wagt den Doppelblick: Auf einem leicht veränderten Instrument höre ich einer Folge von vier Akkorden aus dem langsamen Satz der Appassionata nach. Dabei entfaltet sich ein musikalischer Verlauf durch die Tiefen und Höhen der Klaviatur, der die Kontur von Beethovens Andante con moto nachzeichnet, ohne je direkt zu zitieren. Nur am Ende, im Verklingen schon, scheint kurz die originale Schlusswendung auf, die hier jedoch ebenso wenig „schließt“, wie Beethovens Andante einen Abschluss findet. Wo in Beethovens Sonate nahtlos das große Finale folgt, mündet Ahnen in – Stille.“
