"250 piano pieces for Beethoven"

250 composers from all over the world are invited to write new piano pieces for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in the year 2020. All pieces refer to Beethoven's music and/or his life.
Susanne Kessel plays the world premieres of all the piano pieces in Beethoven's birthtown Bonn. And further performances also in other cities and countries.

All pieces are published within a high quality sheet music edition by EDITIONS MUSICA FERRUM / London.

You can find the sheet music of this piece in Vol. 6 of the project's edition.

Hans-Günter Heumann about his piano piece „Modern Elise:

„Das Klavierstück 'Für Elise von Ludwig van Beethoven – entstanden am 27. April 1810 – zählt zu seinen bekanntesten und beliebtesten Werken. In der Komposition Modern Elise wurde die komplette Elise verarbeitet und in eine moderne Fassung gebracht. Der chromatische Auftakt mit seinem kreisenden Halbtonschritt „e-dis“ – quasi das Erkennungsmerkmal des Stückes – und seiner akkordischen Begleitung zieht sich auch hier wie ein roter Faden durch das Stück, allerdings mit neuen Akkordrückungen und Akzenten. Die rondoartige Einteilung blieb erhalten und agiert als Grundlage für neue Klänge, Rhythmen und melodische Einfälle. Die Modern Elise ist eigenständig und mit dem Orginal im Ohr ein überraschendes Vergnügen und ein ideales Zugabenstück im Konzert.“
